About the Event

Built in 1840, the church has a nave, two aisles and chancel. Its notable antiquity is  the pulpit, a fine piece of wood carving, transferred from the old church (c1608).  Present access is via a steep stone stairway with seven treads - unfortunately this  limits access for visitors and congregation members who find the stairway difficult or impossible to negotiate safely.

Some years ago, a simple electric wheelchair lift was installed in an adjacent narrow  stair access; this is no longer safe or fit for purpose.

St Michael’s is a pivotal focus for  many aspects of village events including the Broadway Bi-annual Arts Festival (June  2024). The church is a place of contemplation, quiet and celebration for all when  needed. It is vital that a new lift is installed, that is safe and accessible to enable restricted mobility access.

The PCCdecided to launch a lift  appeal.  - St Michael's Church Lift Appeal - Give A Little

The Alcester Male Voice Choir who  celebrate their 50th Anniversary in 2024. AMVC have collaborated with the church in previous  successful appeals supporting essential renewal projects. The Choir, based in the market town of Alcester, perform between 12 to 15 concerts a year in support  of local charities, churches, organisations, and clubs. Recently the choir has performed in St George’s  Chapel, Windsor, the Royal Albert Hall, Symphony Hall, Birmingham Pershore Abbey, Worcester  Cathedral and St Michaels & All Angels, Broadway. Their founder and director, Judith Land was  awarded the BEM in 2014 for services to music
